Ferdi van den BERGH is the founder and imagineer of Tjeko Fun Village. As he was exploring the opportunities for 1more Child (sponsorship program for the most vulnerable) in the fall of 2008, Ferdi came to a sobering conclusion. This Dutch father of two realized that children in Uganda are not given the opportunity to be children. He started to imagine an amusement park for all children of Uganda. This would be a place where children simply could be children. Wondering how he would finance such a park, he realized that an initiative like this could possibly generate income of its own.
Ferdi has extensive experience with child-focused educational programs, having worked for a ministry in the heart of an expansive inner city, Brooklyn, New York. In these socially challenged neighborhoods he developed his skills to manage large groups of children, and offer them high-quality programs. This experience helps him to scale the new challenges ahead of him in Uganda.
